TheNew York Giantsbeganorganized team activities (OTAs)on Tuesday, but one of the team's biggest stars isn't participating. Second-year wide receiverMalik Nabersis sitting out of practices this spring while recovering from a toe injury. The original injury occurred while he was in college, according to Giants head coach Brian Daboll, but he aggravated it at some point last year. Having him rest from OTAs is an extra precaution the Giants are taking to make sure he's ready for the season. "We're being mindful of his toe that he's had. Nothing serious," DabollsaidWednesday. "We're being smart with him in terms of the rehab part of it." Daboll clarified that Nabers has not needed a procedure for the issue; the wideout is following a rehab plan that the team's trainers have laid out for him. The Giants plan on taking things slow with Malik Nabers in the offseason program as he is still rehabbing a toe injurypic.twitter.com/YooVYL814D — Giants Videos (@SNYGiants)May 28, 2025 Nabers was a breakout star for the Giants last year as a rookie – one of the lone bright spots in a 3-14 season that was tied for the NFL's worst mark. He finished the season with 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in spite of a chaotic situation at quarterback that unfolded over the course of the season. While the "G-Men" started three different quarterbacks in 2024, Nabers remained consistent. His 109 catches were the most of any rookie receiver last year. His 1,204 yards ranked second among all rookie pass-catchers – just behind Jacksonville Jaguars wideoutBrian Thomas Jr.(1,282) and ahead of Las Vegas Raiders tight endBrock Bowers(1,194). New York is taking advantage of Nabers' ability to produce regardless of who lines up under center, so the team is taking the steps to prioritize their young receiver's health over having him build chemistry with the new quarterbacks. Nabers enters the 2025 season as the Giants' clear No. 1 target for all three of their quarterback newcomers: VeteransRussell WilsonandJameis Winston, whom they signed in free agency, and rookie quarterbackJaxson Dart, whom the team traded up to draft in the back half of the first round.
