However, he said that she does provide him with "balance." "We have a good personal relationship, and you know I'm not talking about personal relationships, Michael," the famed football coach told Strahan, 53, whenasked for thoughtsabout their romance. Belichick did confirm that he was happy with Hudson, 24, and shared a few other details, noting that she has been "terrific through the whole process, and she's been very helpful to me." He shared that she kept him from getting too "football-technical," adding that Hudson made sure he also referenced the "business side" of his life. "So she did a good job of keeping me on balance there," Belichick said. During theSunday Morninginterview, which wasfocused on Belichick's new memoir, Hudson was seen cutting off questions from journalistTony Dokoupilabout their relationship. "We're not talking about this," she said sternly, as Dokoupil turned to her and asked, "No?" Ina statementdays later, Belichick claimed that there was an agreement before the interview to only discuss his book — a claimCBS refuted later that day. "I agreed to speak withCBS Sunday Morningto promote my new book,The Art of Winning — Lessons from My Life in Football. Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of the book," Belichick began the statement, sent via email from his employer, the University of North Carolina. He went on to say that Hudson was acting as his publicist in shutting down questions. "After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion," Belichick wrote. Amid the flurry of backlash, ESPN's Pablo Torre reported on May 9 thatHudson had been bannedfrom UNC's football facilities.UNC denied the reporttwo hours later, stating that though "Jordon Hudson is not an employee," she is allowed in UNC football facilities. On Tuesday, May 13, Belichick gave his first interview since the CBS segment anddownplayed Hudson's rolewhile on ESPN'sSportsCenter. Host Christine Williamson asked about the chatter about Hudson and whether he thinks "that impacts your ability to coach this football team."
