CLEVELAND (AP) — Right-hander Ben Lively was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday due to a strained right flexor tendon. Livelyexited Monday night's gameagainst the Milwaukee Brewers after three innings. Manager Stephen Vogt said that Lively felt some discomfort after his start at Washington on May 6, but that he didn't experience it again until he threw a couple of warm up pitches before the fourth inning on Monday night. "He felt like he could keep pitching. We took that away from him, much to his dismay. So that gives me a little bit of hope that it's something that he felt that he could pitch through. We just have to wait to hear the report," Vogt said before Tuesday's game. Lively is 2-2 with a 3.22 ERA in 10 starts this season. He has allowed only one run in 14 innings in three May starts. The Chicago Bulls got the 12th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft after an ill-fated coin toss with the Dallas Mavericks. On Monday, the Mavericks shockinglywon the sweepstakesfor Duke standout Cooper Flagg after winning the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery despite having an extended season in the Play-In Tournament. During the lottery, Bulls insider K.C. Johnson reported that a tie-breaking coin toss led to the Mavs' eventual win. Thirteen teams had the chance to win the No. 1 pick with the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets having the best odds at 14% each due to their league-low records. The Jazz and Wizards were also both jumped by the San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers, who moved into the top four. Given their standings, the toss determined which team got to pick earlier and spelled heartbreak for the Windy City. While the nature of the loss is still frustrating for Chicago, they do not have it as bad as the Wizards, who narrowly missed out on Victor Wembanyama in 2023 and now Flagg. In the case of Wembanyana, the Wizards at one pointreportedlyhad a better than 50% chance of landing the French phenom, but ultimately lost out to the Spurs. Despite having a 1.8% chance of winning the lottery, the Mavericks managed to land the biggest prize of the draft, after receiving endless scorn from its fanbase after trading franchise player Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in February. After the trade made general manager Nico Harrison public enemy No. 1 in Dallas, the Mavericks' playoff hopes began to dissolve with injuries to Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving plaguing them late in the season. Amid reports theyplan to keep the pick and draft Flaggfollowing his Final Four effort with the Blue Devils, Dallas could become a competitor in the Western Conference with a healthy roster. Although Davis returned weeks after straining his left adductor, Irving will not return to the court until January. The Bulls could still draft a good player with the 12th pick in a talent-stacked class. Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connorprojectedthe Bulls to select Michigan State guard Jase Richardson in his first post-draft lottery mock draft. On the fit, he shared: Richardson is a skilled combo guard with a lethal midrange game and a poised pick-and-roll feel, looking like he downloaded the experience of his NBA veteran father, Jason Richardson. Pairing Richardson with Josh Giddey could make for a lethal two-man combination since Richardson is so potent moving without the ball. Jase didn't inherit his father's height or dunk contest athleticism though, so his smaller stature could cap his upside. But the Bulls have a ton of length and versatility that could mitigate that concern on defense, and enough shot creation on offense to let Richardson thrive off ball while picking his spots as a creator. The first round of the 2025 NBA Draft is slated for Wednesday, June 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

His return comes ata critical time for the Dodgers, with starters Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow on the injured list. "It's a big shot in the arm," manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday. "Clayton has worked really hard to get healthy and the bar is high for him. He doesn't want to just come back to be active. He wants to be come back and help us win baseball games and be good. I know he's excited to contribute." Kershaw struck out two and allowed a pair of runs on two hits and two walks in his final rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. He threw 57 pitches over four innings. "The command the last time wasn't to his kind of standards or liking, but he still was very efficient, got the swing and miss," Roberts said. "With Clayton just being back, it just adds an element of certainty and performance." The three-time Cy Young Award winner will tie Zack Wheat and Bill Russell for the most years with the Dodgers franchise when he starts this weekend. He and Russell are the only players to log 18 seasons since the Dodgers moved to Los Angeles in 1958. Kershaw is the longest-tenured player on the current roster. Kershaw is 32 strikeouts from reaching 3,000 to go with his 212 career wins. He made just seven starts last year before his season ended in August due to pain in his left big toe. North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick shot down the notion that his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson has impacted his ability to properly lead the football program. MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Masters champion Rory McIlroy is heading Down Under for the first time in more than a decade to play the Australian Open on Melbourne's famed sandbelt courses for the next two years. Golf Australia said Wednesday that McIlroy, who completed hiscareer Grand Slamwith hiswin at Augusta in Aprilwould play on the Royal Melbourne composite course from Dec. 4-7 and at nearby Kingston Heath in 2026. Kingston Heathwill host the Presidents Cupin 2028, the fourth time it has been played in Australia, with the previous three times at Royal Melbourne. McIlroy will attempt to win his second Stonehaven Cup. He won the Australian Open in 2013 at Royal Sydney and returned the following year when it was played at another Sydney course, The Australian, but hasn't played in Australia since. "I'm proud to be committing to the Australian Open for the next two years, especially with it being played on the world-class Melbourne sandbelt, somewhere I've always wanted to play professionally" McIlroy said. "The success of the Australian Open is important for the global game." Royal Melbourne has hosted the Australian Open 17 times but not since 1991. First played in 1904, Gary Player has won the tournament seven times, Jack Nicklaus six and Greg Norman five times. Golf Australia decided earlier this year to move away from its previous combined event. The dates and venue of the Women's Australian Open will be confirmed at a later date.
