TheTexas softballprogram took an enormous step toward a national championship on May 31. Facing off against four-time reigning national championOklahoma, which defeated them in the championship series of last year's Women's College World Series, the No. 6 Longhorns pulled off the upset, getting solo home runs from Kayden Henry and Joley Mitchell toknock off the rival No. 2 Sooners 4-2at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. By earning the win, Texas cleared what had been an insurmountable hurdle. It was the Longhorns' first-ever win against Oklahoma in the WCWS and entering the day, they had been 0-3 against the Sooners (compared to 52-8 against everyone else).
