The film became a smash hit, earning over $100 million worldwide and kicking off a multi-film franchise known as the "Miyagi verse." Whilethe 2010 rebootstarringJackie ChanandJaden Smithoffered a standalone story centered on kung fu,The Karate Kid,Part II(1986),Part III(1989),The Next Karate Kid(1994) and the Netflix seriesCobra Kaiall exist within the same shared universe.
