Bill Belichick: Jordon Hudson 'doesn't have anything to do with UNC football'New Foto - Bill Belichick: Jordon Hudson 'doesn't have anything to do with UNC football'

Bill Belichick said Tuesday that girlfriend Jordon Hudson "doesn't have anything to do" with the North Carolina football program. The 73-year-old coach appeared on ESPN's "SportsCenter" and was asked about his relationship with the 24-year-old Hudson and if it had any potential impacts as he begins his first season as a college football head coach. "It's really off to the side," Belichick said. "It's a personal relationship and she doesn't have anything to do with UNC football. I'm excited to be back in the coaching meetings and getting ready for June and then August when we get to training camp. June will be a big recruiting month for us and then August we'll start getting ready for the season." Belichick was then asked if his relationship with the much younger Hudson has come up in discussions with his players — who have assuredly seen discussion about the two on social media — and the longtime Patriots coach adeptly deflected. "Great, again we want to make the players the best that they can be and provide them the best opportunity on and off the field," Belichick said. During an interview with "CBS Sunday Morning," Hudson stepped in to say that Belichick would not be answering a question about how the two met. Per a TMZ report after the interview aired, it wasn't the only time that Hudson had chimed in during the interview. The two have said they met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021 andin a statement days after the interview, Belichick confirmed that the two have a "personal and professional relationship" and that she was "simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track." Over the weekend she finished third at the Miss Maine USA pageant with Belichick in attendance. The competition began a day after North Carolina said in a statement thatHudson was still welcome at its football facilitiesfollowing a report that she had been banned. Belichick's answer Tuesday also contradicts what his school email account revealed earlier this spring. In an email to a UNC associate athletic director for communications, sent just days after he was officially introduced at North Carolina, Belichick wrote that "I am including Jordon on this email so she can also keep up with our postings. Can you include her on anything you send to me?" Hudson also instructed the schoolon how it should announce Belichick's son Steve as the team's new defensive coordinator when he was hired in March. "It can be easily misinterpreted that Steve is simply benefitting from nepotism but that is not the case," Hudson wrote. "Steve was fortunate to have learned defensive football strategy from the 'greatest defensive mind' of all-time. He has earned his position due to his performance and output." Hudson also asked North Carolina to block or hide social media messages on the school's page that were "slanderous commentary" about their relationship.

U.S. Soccer on Tuesday revealed two brand new kits for theU.S. women'sandmen's national teams, both of which involved design input from players. In a press release accompanying the kit reveal, U.S. Soccer said that Nike athletes Kellyn Acosta, Lynn Biyendolo, Naomi Girma, Sophia Wilson, DeAndre Yedlin, and Walker Zimmerman — each of whom has dozens of USWNT or USMNT caps — were involved in designing the kits, dubbed "Brilliant" and "Heartbeat," respectively. The "Brilliant" kit is a USWNT-only edition, honoring the 40th anniversary of the women's program. It features a star-based pattern, and will carry four stars above the U.S. Soccer crest to commemorate the team's four World Cup triumphs. "To me, the kits represent the USWNT mentality of always pushing forward," said Biyendolo, who helped the USWNT to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, via press release. "I know I can speak for my teammates when I say that every time we put on the uniform, it brings a great sense of pride. When we represent our country, our team and ourselves, we know we are doing so while standing on the shoulders of giants. The 'Brilliant' kit is just another way to honor our past and the women who played before us." "The refreshed designs honor the brilliance of the U.S. Women's National Team — celebrating 40 years of legacy, resilience, and groundbreaking achievements both on and off the pitch." The USWNT will debut the "Brilliant" kit later this month, when they host China in St. Paul, Minn. on May 31. The USMNT will carry on with its existing lighter kit, while both teams will begin wearing the predominantly navy blue "Heartbeat" kit as their darker option. The USMNT's first match in that kit will be a June 7 friendly against Turkey in East Hartford, Conn. The kit launch has come as part of a mini-capsule that includes an all-red warm-up jersey and a pre-game anthem jacket in navy, red, and a lighter shade of blue. NFL announces Chargers Week 1 game in Brazil will stream for free on YouTubeNew Foto - NFL announces Chargers Week 1 game in Brazil will stream for free on YouTube

When NFL fans sit down to watch the Los Angeles Chargers take on their Week 1 opponent in Brazil, they won't need a special cable subscription. All they'll need is internet access. The contest on Friday, Sept. 5 will stream for free on YouTube. It's the first time the company will exclusively stream an NFL game. TheNFL and YouTube confirmedthe news Tuesday, with YouTube chief business officer Mary Ellen Coe hyping up the number of viewers the contest could draw on the website. "Last year, people spent over 350 million hours watching official NFL content on YouTube, so it's both fitting and thrilling to continue to build our relationship with our partners at the NFL," said Mary Ellen Coe, chief business officer, YouTube. "Streaming the Friday night game to fans for free around the world will mark YouTube's first time as a live NFL broadcaster — and we'll do it in a way that only YouTube can, with an interactive viewing experience and creators right at the center of the experience." The game can also be viewed on YouTube TV, which has been the home of the NFL Sunday Ticket since 2023. Canada and certain other countries will not be able to watch the contest on YouTube, per the league's announcement. As for the Chargers' opponent, that has yet to be announced. The league revealed nearlyall of its international gamesTuesday, but did not reveal who the Chargers will play in Brazil in Week 1. That announcement is expected Wednesday.Reports suggestit will be the Kansas City Chiefs. It's not the first time the NFL has held a Week 1 game in São Paulo, Brazil. The Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers squared off in the country in Week 1 of 2024. The Eagles pulled out anarrow 34-29 victoryover the Packers. That game was held at Corinthians Arena, which will also host the Chargers in 2025. Over 47,000 fans attended the contest last year.

Panthers minority owner Doug Cifu suspended by NHL over 'unacceptable and inappropriate' comments on social mediaNew Foto - Panthers minority owner Doug Cifu suspended by NHL over 'unacceptable and inappropriate' comments on social media

Florida Panthersminority owner Doug Cifu was suspended by the NHL after making "unacceptable and inappropriate" comments on social media, the league announced Tuesday. The incident occurred following thePanthers' 2-0 win in Game 4 vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. Following the victory, Cifu engaged in a back-and-forth with a fan that included profanity, taunting and comments about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The latter issue was brought up by the fan due to Cifu's support of Israel on his X account. Cifu also had five Israeli flag emojis in his bio. His X account was set to private and then deleted shortly after the back-and-forth. After multiple tweets with the fan, Cifu eventually responded, "Eat s*** 51st state anti-semite loser. Israel now and forever. Until ever [sic] last Hamas rat is eliminated." The NHL did not specify a particular tweet in its announcement, merely stating Cifu was suspended for "unacceptable and inappropriate" posts. Cifu will need to meet with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman before being reinstated from the suspension, per the league statement. "The NHL has concluded that Mr. Cifu's X posts were unacceptable and inappropriate," the league said in a statement. "As a result, Mr. Cifu has been suspended indefinitely from any involvement with the Club and the NHL. An in-person meeting will be scheduled with Mr. Cifu and the Commissioner at a date to be determined." Cifuapologized for those commentsin a statement to Florida Hockey Now. In the statement, Cifu said he made "regrettable and inflammatory comments." "Two days ago, I posted regrettable and inflammatory comments on social media,'' Cifu wrote in a statement. "My behavior does not reflect the standards of the Florida Panthers organization and the Viola family. I sincerely apologize to all those affected by my comments. I am committed to working with the NHL to amend my actions." The Panthers are owned by Vincent J. Viola. He and Cifu co-founded Virtu Financial in 2008. Cifu has held an ownership stake in the Panthers since 2013, when Viola purchased the team. Cifu is listed as the "vice chairman, partner, and alternate governor of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment (SSE), the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers, FLA Live Arena, and SSE's additional operating entities," onthe Panthers' website. He still serves as the CEO at Virtu Financial and sits on the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
